I've been doing Pilates about 7 years, teaching for 3. I love the traditional mat - is the bedrock of all I do. However......here it comes.... I am wondering if it's time for a slight change.
Bear me out - still Pilates inspired, still under pinned by Pilates theory, still many of the same moves but a little bit more 'ab-crunchy' perhaps? More FitBall perhaps? More AC/DC? Most of the people in my classes are injury/pathology free, are au fait with the moves and maybe would welcome a change?
Given that the recent 'Music-Fests' were insanely popular and the FitBall sessions are more popular than mat classes, I'd like to ask for YOUR comments / thoughts / feedback.
My preference would be for you to respond using the form below - ie in open forum (where others can see / respond) but privately by email if you'd prefer.
Ideas such as:
- FitBall class every other week
- A musicfest once a month
- More combo/jazzed up mat classes -
ie a move done quietly to practise it, then repeat the same move to AC/DC! (or the like)
- Flows / sequences of moves
- ie rather than a single move in isolation, a sequence of several moves all rolled into one
- akin to dance choregraphy or a yoga class
