A cycling related question came up in class a couple of weeks ago that intrigued me.
I was asked whether cycling actually WEAKENS the core?
My initial reaction was one of surprise - surely not.
I cycle a lot and haven't noticed a core degredation but that may be because I intrinsically/subconsciously do all the things that might mitigate - ie pelvic tuck, activate pelvic floor etc.
Thinking about it though, I could see it may be possible - especially if the back is arched.
Then I pondered…. I have taught many cyclists - all whom have reported much improved core strength after a having DONE Pilates with me.
